Consulting and Change in Organizations

Duration: Two 2-day modules and one 3-day module plus two half-day virtual consulting practice groups. Please note: Module 1 starts at 17:30 on the first day.

Program Overview

Consulting and Change in Organizations is a three-module program offering applied, practical insights into approaches to consulting, informed by leading-edge theory and practice. It is ideal if you want to learn through exploration, practice and reflection.

The program complements general management, change management and project management capabilities. Designed for consultants, business partners and change agents, it helps you add greater value to organizations, whether internally or externally.

Content and Structure

Pre-program

Your program begins with an introductory call with one of the tutors who will discuss your learning objectives and introduce the preparation work including; an online questionnaire, exercises and pre-reading.

Residential Phase

Highly interactive and experiential, the program encourages you to inquire into your current professional challenges and context. It offers opportunities to integrate new understanding and insight into your practice. The program is designed around three modules: two of 2-days and one of 3-days. Half-day virtual Consulting Practice Groups also take place between modules one and two and modules two and three.

Module one: you as a consultant and change agent

This module gives you an opportunity to reflect on the skills and experience you bring to your consulting activity. You will also identify key areas for development to enhance your effectiveness.

It will give you a greater awareness of your current skills, capabilities and areas for development as a relational practitioner.

During your time at Ashridge you will work with actors and receive immediate feedback from peers and faculty. This is a chance to experiment with different techniques in a safe environment, before applying them in your workplace or consulting practice.

An integral part of the first module is a group dinner on the first evening.

Module two: experimenting with interventions

This module gives you a robust understanding of group dynamics and removes the mystery of designing consulting interventions in organizations.

We will encourage you to trust and develop different ways of using your mind, body and emotions in your consulting activity. You will develop a greater awareness of yourself and others.

The program helps you use ‘more of yourself with skill’ when facilitating groups or designing consulting interventions.

Module three: practising with real clients

This module helps you apply and integrate all the learning from the first two modules.

You spend a day with some of our clients and apply your learning directly by working with one of their live strategic change issues. This will include forming a relationship, undertaking an inquiry, applying appropriate change perspectives and offering input regarding methodologies where appropriate.

A review on the final day deepens learning. We will help you develop and articulate your unique consulting proposition and set up phased action plans for the future.

Post-Program

You will become a member of the Ashridge alumni network where you can continue your personal development and networking.

You are also given continued access to your online program portal and Virtual Ashridge content for six months after your final module. Ongoing support and further learning opportunities are available with Ashridge Momentum.
